Getting Ready

Hair

You will want this to look good, but not “out of the ordinary”.  Think about bringing a brush and perhaps some hair pins. This is not the time to test a new hair style or hair color, or get close cropped(exception – if you’ve just signed up for the service, guys – this might be the look you want ).

Guys: you’ll want to shave – retouched stubble doesn’t look as good or as natural as clean shaven.

Clothing

Giving this some thought can be very important in presenting a neat/clean image. For family photos, consider dressing everyone with similar colors and tones. All black works fine, as do blue jeans with white tops, all white – you pick it.  Avoid anything “busy” or with logos or writing.. We want the focal point to be the face, not admiring the designer’s logo or choices of distracting colors or patterns.

Your clothing shouldn’t overpower your face, and fashions change, and can become distracting in a very short period of time.. Solid colors will usually look the best (simplicity is good).

Girls: be careful of sleeveless tops. In some poses they make your arms look big. Senior pix, and not sure – bring a suitcase and we’ll help you decide!

Makeup

Girls, makeup should be only slightly heavier than you normally wear it. Glitter can appear as white spots on your images, due to reflected light.

Guys, if you think your skin is shiny a little powder ask your mom or girlfriend for a little powder.

Undergarments

Logos/designs on an undgergarment can show through light. Guys, if you are wearing a light colored shirt and you will be wearing a t-shirt underneath, bring an all white tee. For a dark shirt, chose a very dark tee – just a tiny bit of white showing really can be destracting in a photo.

Girls, bring appropriate undergarments for each outfit; trying to hide straps doesn’t usually work out well, and can cause you to just look uncomfortable.
